Program Guidelines
Young people who experience cancer must endure the full brunt of the physical and mental hardships that go with it. Learning and cognitive disabilities are common after effects of the treatments for many kinds of childhood cancer. As well, many kids miss years of school during their cancer journey and find themselves working overtime to catch up.
The Childhood Cancer Foundation endeavours to support these young Canadians through its Childhood Cancer Scholarship Program, whereby childhood cancer survivors can apply for a bursary to assist them financially with their first year of post secondary school education. The awards are not based on academic performance. The Scholarship Program is the Foundation's way of joining with these adolescents and their families to help them celebrate the many advances in childhood cancer treatment that now permit this wonderful second chance at life.
The Foundation's scholarships vary between $300-$1,000 depending on the availability of funds.
Applicants are advised that, upon receipt of a Foundation scholarship the names of all successful recipients will be posted on the Foundation website.
